The Cafe Carlyle

An hour of magic with the late (and beyond great!) Bobby Short at the fanciest of fancy Carlyle Hotel on 72nd Street (right near Madison) in New York City.

Lester the Nightfly – Meet Mr. Bobby Short

Your host, PJ Ewing brings you a selection of cabaret singers and performers who have recorded at the famous Cafe Carlyle in New York City. And we have some personal stories of nights at the Carlyle. Plus, let’s welcome a special guest… yep… mom! Mary Sue Ewing shares how a family fascination with “all things Bobby” came about back in the early 1970’s.

Jump into the World of Bobby Short

Bobby Short at The Cafe Carlyle in 1979

You get to join us for an evening… then we can meet at Bemelman’s Bar afterwards to pretend we own railroads or diamond mines… and hobnob with the regular snooty (but fun to appreciate) wealthy patrons. I’ll have a $25 vodka gimlet (just one!)… what will you have?
