Born on June 3, 2000, in Iloilo City, Philippines, she was raised in London, England. She taught herself to play guitar at age 17 using YouTube tutorials. The first song she ever wrote on the guitar was “Coffee.” In 2017, she uploaded the song to YouTube, where it quickly gained hundreds of thousands of views and caught the attention of the UK independent label Dirty Hit, which she signed with in 2018.
Beabadoobee’s global breakthrough happened when Canadian rapper Powfu sampled “Coffee” for his 2020 viral hit “Death Bed (Coffee for Your Head).” The song became a massive success on TikTok and introduced her to a massive mainstream audience. That same year, she was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the Brit Awards and won the Radar Award at the NME Awards.
