Reeling in the Years with Raphi Salem (E21)
Part 2 of our visit with the musically curious, Raphi Salem. From the funny (Weird Al, Blue Oyster Cult) to the sublime (The Eagles) to the inspirational (Archie Bell and the Drells), Raphi gives us a peak at the music that has accompanied his life so far. No, we’re not going to play any Steely Dan this week. Well, maybe not. But we ARE calling this episode Reeling in the Years with Raphi Salem… go figure.

Our Beloved New York City
We are in trouble for sure. I walked down Rivington St. ten times this past week taking my kids to and from school for the first time in a year. We were so glad to be back to our routine… up early, the J train (yes there is a J train) to Delancey/Essex and then a walk to Columbia and Houston. So… good feelings, back at it and all that.
Yet…
There are now stretches of Rivington… a normally vibrant street, that are 100% empty. ALL of the storefronts are barren, closed, out of business. I was shocked. Saddened. And fired-up at the same time. No, I cannot predict when NYC will be back to its brash, braggadocious, and occasionally obnoxious self, but I know it will get there. Raphi and I reflect on our beloved city and other matters of the hear in this episode— Reeling in the Years with Raphi Salem (LTNF E21).
