Jason Scavone: New Music From Charlotte Part 1 (S2 | E78)
I so look forward to the homework that I do for each radio show. Sometimes I feel ill-prepared. Sometimes I know I am ready. In this case I was only half the way there. So I leaned on my guest Jason Scavone to get us to the good stuff behind his songs and those that he brought for us to hear. And Jason did NOT disappoint. A learned man, music producer, and expert music engineer, Jason is more than capable of taking us through the granular components of songwriting and music production.
Jason has new music to share with us – the first in nearly seven years. And he has some Carly Taich, Brandi Carlile and something called Foxwarren to foist upon us. Harumph. It is you, the audience, who will determine the value of his work. Spoiler alert – it is all fascinating and beautiful stuff.
So get ready for some new music from Charlotte with this week’s Lester the Nightfly guest, Jason Scavone.
About Jason Scavone
With an undeniable gift for songwriting that illuminates the joyous, mundane and oftentimes bewildering experiences of life, North Carolina based singer, songwriter and producer Jason Scavone has developed a unique sound that transcends traditional genre barriers, delivering a unique musical thumbprint that seamlessly melds the best of indie, pop, americana and rock.
Early in his career, Jason served as frontman and songwriter for indie rock band, The Noises 10. During this time the band signed to two major label deals, recorded with and mentored under super producer Eric Valentine; and performed with such acts as Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, Derek Trucks Band, and 30 Seconds To Mars. Jason’s music has been featured in television shows including One Tree Hill and Criminal Minds in addition to the 2019 documentary Valiant. In 2008 Jason recorded a duet of his song “My Repair” with Brandi Carlile which was included on a Universal Music Group Compilation album.
Jason’s latest soon to be released album, produced by Jason himself, mixed by Tom Schick at Wilco’s studio in Chicago and mastered by Bob Ludwig was written during the midst of the pandemic as he reevaluated his relationship with music and reflected on the uncertain future we faced individually and as a society. The first single, Old Friend is set to be released Spring 2022.
