House Musique Spring 2021 (OH THE JOY!)
There is hope in the air. Can you feel it? With two shots in my arm and a New York City that is coming back to life right before my very eyes I say let’s feel good. We may not yet be able to celebrate by hearing music live, but it is on the horizon. God bless us all on that!
PJ… UM… DJ?
So. For this show I am taking my “PJ DJ” responsibilities very seriously. This is, actually, a real DJ set. With some beat matching and everything. DJ Shadow I am not, but I’ll stand by these selections all day long. I am so very pleased with the way it turned out too. I only wish I could be there, on your side of the radio, to see the pleasure you get from these yummy audio morsels.

About: The musical moniker of 19-year-old Sash McLeod, Sycco has managed to turn heads thanks to the release of tracks like “Peacemaker” and “Nicotine”, with the latter seeing her earn a feature as Apple Music’s New Artist of the Week and an appearance on the cover of Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist.
What the Future Holds: “It’s sort of exciting to know that nobody knows what’s next!! … We are all in this together and figuring it out as we go,” Sycco explains.
While travel restrictions have been in place, she’s been using Zoom to collaborate on songs – she reckons that people are more at ease in their own homes. “I’ve met and connected with some of the best people this year doing them!” A fun link here to a Brisbane website about Sycco.

I really and truly LOVE HOUSE MUSIC. And I know that not all of these tracks actually qualify as true house. Some are just electronica. Others are more pop songs than anything else (see Doja Cat). What I was really surprised to find once I laid down the tracks and build the playlist was how recent much of the work actually is. Tons of 2020’s. That is a bit of a source of pride for me. A little of my own advice I guess – the best music that we will ever hear we have not heard yet… or something like that. So – that means – I am still seeking those great tracks – as of this past 12 months. I still GOT IT! 🙂
